The Curriculum Integration of Waste Management and Traffic Safety concept in the Elementary level is one of the pioneering CSR Projects of Toyota Autoparts Philippines, Inc. In partnership with the City Government of Santa Rosa, Dept. of Education, Dept. Environment and Natural Resources, National Solid Waste Mng’t Commission and UP National Center for Transportation Studies, the program is currently taught in all 18 Public Elementary Schools in the City of Santa Rosa. Traffic Safety topics are integrated in Araling Panlipunan subjects from Grade 1, 2, 3 and 4 while Waste Management are taught in the Science subjects of Grade 3, 4, 5 and 6 pupils.
Toyota Autoparts believes that recurring problems in our community like traffic safety and waste management issue can be minimized if we will start with the younger generation since they are highly adaptable to new ideas and learnings. There is high hope that through this program, sustainability can be achieved in the long run.
